The name says it all: Gusto translates into, “tasty” in Italian. 101 is their address on Portland street in Toronto’s trendy King West neighbourhood. Their claim to fame: “We’re just a joint that serves nice food and wine.”

Specifically, Gusto’s owner Janet Zuccarini has created a unique space to savour classic Italian food (Janet is a trained pizzaiola) with an unexpected global twist and a micro-winery on site offering wine on tap for the unreal price of $1/ounce.

Sounds too good to be true? It gets better, to complement the rustic-meets-revolutionary menu, the atmosphere has a juxtaposing industrial feel that is surprisingly cozy despite the fact that this Italian Trattoria used to be an auto body shop. Unisex washrooms are a bit of a twist on tradition too.

Also, Gusto 101 supports local and serves organic fare. Consider yourself a fan yet? We certainly are.
